Precious Metals Acceptance Policy

At Rikrland Valuation Services, we accept select precious metals as payment for our services (e.g., real estate/aviation appraisals, market studies, consulting) to support economic resilience and asset-based transactions, particularly in Alaska’s gold-rich economy. This includes Goldbacks (via the Goldback Merchant Network) and certain physical gold/silver bullion coins. Acceptance is at our sole discretion, in compliance with U.S. and Alaska laws. We reserve the right to update this policy—last reviewed: February 2026.

We Do Not Store Precious Metals

Goldbacks, physical gold/silver coins, cash, or any precious metals are immediately removed from our offices following acceptance. We maintain no on-site inventory or safe storage for client metals.

Accepted Forms of Precious Metals

Goldbacks: As a member of the Goldback Merchant Network, we accept all standard denominations (½ to 100) featuring 24K gold layered in polymer. See Goldback.com for details on authenticity features (e.g., UV ink, raised images, unique serials).
Physical Gold & Silver Coins: We accept only widely recognized, government-minted bullion coins commonly traded at spot price. Examples include:
- Gold: American Gold Eagles, American Gold Buffalos, Canadian Gold Maple Leafs, South African Krugerrands (and similar high-purity standards like .9999 fine for most).
- Silver: American Silver Eagles, Canadian Silver Maple Leafs (and equivalent .999+ fine bullion coins from reputable mints).
We do not accept: numismatic/collectible coins, proof sets, fractional/non-standard weights, private mint rounds/bars, damaged/counterfeit items, or any coins requiring grading/appraisal expertise. We are not coin dealers or authenticators.

Key Procedures (Applies to All Accepted Precious Metals)

Acceptance & Appointment: Precious metals accepted only with advance notice, at our Soldotna office headquarters, by appointment. No walk-ins or mail-in for metals. Minimum equivalent value: $250 USD; large amounts require prior discussion.
Exchange Rate / Valuation: Credited at the current spot price (for coins) or Goldback.com daily exchange rate (for Goldbacks), based on live market data from reputable sources (e.g., Kitco, APMEX, or Goldback.com). We confirm the rate at the time of verification—no premiums, discounts, or guarantees against market fluctuations. Spot prices are volatile;
Verification: Items must pass our basic checks (e.g., weight, appearance, mint marks, no damage). For Goldbacks: unique serial, UV ink, raised image. For coins: standard weight/purity for listed types. We may use simple tools/magnification; verification can take time. You may be present in our secure back office (with safety protocols). Suspect or non-standard items will be rejected without exception—we reserve the right to decline any item we cannot confidently verify as legitimate.
Payment Process: Present during invoicing at our office. We issue a receipt detailing metal type/quantity, exchange rate/spot value, and credit applied. Overpayments refunded in USD only. We do not store metals on site, make change for metals, or provide metal refunds/change.
Refunds & Cancellations: Per our Cancellation Policy, refunds issued in USD equivalent at the original exchange/spot rate (date of acceptance) to avoid volatility risks. No refunds in metals.
Taxes & Accounting: Client is responsible for any tax implications (e.g., capital gains). We report as standard income. Sales tax (if applicable) must be paid in USD, not metals.

Benefits & Considerations

Accepting precious metals aligns with our valuation expertise and Alaska’s heritage in tangible assets. Benefits include privacy, fee-free transactions, and inflation protection. However, risks include market volatility, verification time, and limited acceptance options. We encourage consulting a financial advisor. This is not investment advice.
